Step into the World of Outdoor Living: Trends from Salone del Mobile 2024
Venturing into the heart of Milan’s renowned Salone del Mobile design fair (16-21 April), our VLAZE team took a journey of inspiration to immerse ourselves in the emerging trends that are reshaping the landscape of outdoor living.
Among the familiar faces and fresh newcomers from around the globe, we discovered a vibrant fusion of innovation, personalisation and sustainability – setting the stage for the future of high-design outdoor kitchens.
Read on to discover our 3 takeaways from the show:
1) Earthy Tones: Embracing Nature’s Palette

In a nod to nature’s timeless allure, neutral colours and raw materials dominated the show, highlighting both sustainability and environmental consciousness. Spaces and furniture used neutral hues punctuated by soft pastels of reds, yellows, and turquoise, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living. Earthy tones such as ochre, oxide red, and orange lent a warm, inviting vibe, giving spaces a sense of organic charm.
2) Furniture Transformed: Where Function Meets Artistry

At this year’s Salone, dining tables and chairs moved on from their utilitarian roles, becoming more sculptural. From bold zig-zag legs to majestic round bases and soft modern shapes. Surfaces boasted a sophisticated allure, crafted from novel materials such as printed glass and orbitally brushed metals, elevating outdoor spaces to new heights of luxury. The option to match finishes across worktops and dining tables added a flow to interiors, seamlessly integrating kitchen and dining areas.
3) Luxury with Purpose: A Commitment to Sustainability:

Sustainability took centre stage at this year’s Salone, with brands championing eco-friendly practices and responsible design. From recycled materials to products built to withstand the test of time, the emphasis on environmental stewardship suggested a collective commitment to a greener future. Understanding the origins of our furniture and embracing transparent manufacturing processes appeared to be key considerations, guiding consumers towards conscientious choices. The shift towards modular furniture not only simplifies logistics and transport but also reflects a deeper ethos of adaptability and longevity.
