A Bespoke Vlaze Outdoor Kitchen in the Heart of the Surrey Hills
We recently had the pleasure to be part of this elegant poolside garden retreat in the Surrey Hills. A timeless English landscape, thoughtfully completed with one of our bespoke VLAZE enamelled kitchens with furniture design input from former Soho House design director Linda Boronkay. The brief was to create a refined, durable and self-contained outdoor kitchen that would sit quietly beneath a traditional pavilion and make entertaining effortless. A bespoke VLAZE kitchen, custom colour-matched to fit the scheme and specified with both a charcoal grill and a built-in gas barbecue, plus integrated refrigeration was chosen for a truly independent cooking and hosting set-up.
Every cabinet was made to order at our factory on the Isle of Wight, where we engineer our furniture in 304-grade stainless steel and wrap it in our signature vitreous enamel glaze. The enamel is fired onto steel at temperatures exceeding 800°C, creating a luxurious, glossy surface that is heatproof, hygienic, stain resistant and weatherproof. It is the same finish we manufacture for architectural cladding and for iconic signage on the London Underground and Paris Metro, chosen for its superior fire resistance, colour depth and longevity.

The kitchen was designed using our ADAPT modular system, which is based on 600mm and 1,200mm units. This allows us to compose precise runs and corners that accommodate grills, refrigeration and generous preparation space while maintaining clean lines and practical storage. For this site, the plan was carefully scaled to sit comfortably beneath the pavilion, while preserving poolside circulation and offering a clear serving area for family and guests. The modular approach ensures a bespoke look with engineered reliability while making future tweaks straightforward should the project evolve.
Material performance was central to the specification. Vitreous enamel provides a hard, non-porous, wipe-clean surface that shrugs off heat from pizza ovens or charcoal fire, resists UV fading and keeps its high-gloss lustre with minimal maintenance. It’s ideal for a space that needs to transition from quiet weekday suppers to larger weekend gatherings. Combined with the inherent strength of 304-grade stainless steel, the cabinetry is built to endure the challenging British climate year after year while retaining its refined finish.

Aesthetically, the bespoke enamel colour was carefully chosen to sit in harmony with the pavilion and surrounding stone, ensuring the kitchen is part of the architecture rather than an add-on. Doors and drawers align with millimetre precision, while hardware is restrained and the overall impression is one of calm utility with everything to hand.
For homeowners considering something similar, the process is straightforward. Share the dimensions of your space and your wish-list, including grill preferences, refrigeration, serving zones, storage etc and our design team will develop clear layouts, material options and a transparent, itemised quotation. Because Vlaze ADAPT is modular and manufactured in England, we can move efficiently from drawing to finished installation, with the assurance of a surface and build quality that is proven in demanding architectural settings.
If you would like to explore a bespoke Vlaze outdoor kitchen for your home, whether country poolside or city terrace, our studio would be delighted to prepare initial visuals for your consideration. Send us your measurements and your brief, and we will take it from there.
